Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, established in 1923 in Accra, is Ghana’s premier tertiary healthcare facility and the third largest hospital in Africa. It began as a 200-bed general hospital and has expanded to a 2,000-bed capacity with 21 clinical and diagnostic departments, as well as three Centers of Excellence: the National Cardiothoracic Centre, the National Reconstructive Plastic Surgery and Burns Centre, and the National Centre for Radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine. These centers attract patients from Ghana and neighboring countries like Nigeria, Togo, and Burkina Faso.
