Elmina is a coastal town in Ghana, famous for its rich history and beautiful scenery. The town is best known for Elmina Castle, the oldest European-built structure in sub-Saharan Africa. Originally built by the Portuguese in 1482 and later taken over by the Dutch and British, the castle played a significant role in the transatlantic slave trade.
